The Leafs rolled over the Canucks on Thursday, taking the win by a score of 7-3.
Jason Spezza recorded a hattrick, which earned him 1st star honours. It was a full team effort though, as Mitch Marner (1g, 2a), William Nylander (3a), Auston Matthews (2g), Travis Boyd (2a), Jake Muzzin (2a) and Morgan Rielly (2a), all had multi-point games.
Frederik Andersen got the win, but he allowed 3 goals on 19 shots for a 0.842SV%. His slow start is starting to go beyond concerning and is entering “problem” territory. He has started 9 games now and just 3 of those have ended with a SV% above 0.900 and fewer than 3 goals allowed. With a team that is playing a tighter game in front of him, he’ll have to be sharper if the team wants to stick at the top of the NHLs leader board.
Travis Dermott is day-to-day, so Mikko Lehtonen will suit up tonight. The hope for me is that Rasmus Sandin will finally get a chance to dress, but that doesn’t seem to be in the immediate plans:
Hopefully we see our top prospect soon.
Freddy starts again, let’s hope for a better performance tonight.
Enjoy the game.
