Jason Spezza signed a MASSIVE 1 year extension today, taking up a large percentage of the teams remaining cap space. It’s valued at $750,000.
Spezza will enter his 3rd season with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He has suited up in 112 regular season games for the Leafs over the past 2 years, recording 19 goals and 55pts. He has also played in 12 playoff games during that time, recording 3 goals and 5pts, all coming from the teams most recent 7 game series versus the Montreal Canadiens.
This signing comes as no surprise to anybody that follows the Maple Leafs. Spezza has said that he wants to finish his career in Toronto, the team he grew up cheering for. We, the fans, are happy to have him, as his play and leadership has helped push the team forward.
Through 1,177 career regular season games Spezza has recorded 351 goals and 970pts, while tallying an additional 28 goals and 75pts in 92 playoff games.
