Tyson Barrie has retired!!! It’s about time.
The goaltending was solid this past season and we’re hoping to see more of that.
The question moving forward in regards to the goaltending is this; if Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll continue to play well, but Stolarz continues to demand more minutes than Woll, do you re-sign him to a bigger contract and move Woll? Or do you accept Woll’s $3.66M as the cost of business and keep a fantastic tandem together for a while longer? How much will injuries come into play in that decision? If Stolarz can’t stay consistently healthy, then moving Woll seems ill advised unless they have a better, cheaper option lined up somehow. Either way, it will be an interesting year between the pipes, as both of these goalies push each other for the starting position.
Lastly, while we know that this is ridiculous based on what Mitch Marner said himself, it appears that he lead his teammates to believe that he hadn’t decided to leave Toronto almost two years ago.
I honestly hope that the Marner articles will dwindle away soon. He isn’t a necessary piece in the construction of a Stanley Cup winning team, even if he is a fantastic regular season player.
