What say you? Where would you rank Auston Matthews in terms of the best centres in the game? Being in the top 10 isn’t the insult that some make it out to be, considering the fact that we’re talking about the best players in the world, but would you have him closer to the top 5?
To stick with the Matthews theme, he has always been a talented shot blocking forward. That has to count for something, no?
Lastly, for fun, lets share our own predictions for the Leafs scoring leaders:
I’m going to go with:
Auston Matthews (if healthy) (95pts+)
William Nylander (85-90pts)
Matthew Knies (70-75pts)
Darren Raddysh (60-65pts)
John Tavares (55-60pts)
Point values are for added fun if you’d like to include yours. I like that the OP has Gavin McKenna at #5, but I’m predicting a 40-50pt season from the youngster, which shouldn’t land him top 5 on the team. I’m also predicting an uptick from sophomore forward, Easton Cowan. Cowan’s 29pts in 66 games had him on a 36pt pace over an 82 game season. My prediction for him over the new 84 game schedule will be in the same range as McKenna’s 40-50pts.
