There are rumours floating around that the Leafs and Corey Perry, who had his contract terminated by the Chicago Blackhawks earlier this season for breach of contract, have mutual interest in having Perry play in Toronto:
Without knowing everything that happened in Chicago it’s easy for me to say that it would benefit the Leafs to have a dirtbag play on this team. They aren’t tough enough and can’t get under the skin of opposing teams. They haven’t had anybody that could do that effectively since Leo Komarov left Toronto and the only thing close was players such as Michael Bunting, whose antics hurt the team more than helped them. Diving to draw calls and yelling at the refs like a petulant child when you don’t get a call isn’t an effective way to be a pest, that’s all I’m trying to say. Corey Perry is no Michael Bunting, he’s good at what he does and he’d be a very good addition when the playoffs hit. With that said, I’m sure not every member of the Leafs would be that thrilled with having him as a teammate:
Shut up Ryan.
Enjoy the game.
